2025 Can-Am Defender "Coffee Cruiser": Built to Pour, Built to Crawl

2025 Can-Am Defender "Coffee Cruiser": Built to Pour, Built to Crawl

S3 Power Sports    Mar 12th 2025

Can-Am wanted a coffee rig that could survive Johnson Valley, not a mall crawler with a latte machine. So S3 Power Sports put a Defender on 35s, corrected the gearing, and braced the chassis to take hits on the way to Chocolate Thunder — then serve hot cups when everyone else is running on fumes. It’s a support truck that wheels like a trail rig and works like a pit cart.

Why this build exists

KOH punishes everything — drivers, hardware, schedules. Caffeine is mission-critical, and getting coffee to the crowd means threading rock gardens and off-camber junk trucks avoid. We spec’d the Coffee Cruiser to snake through the valley, stay composed with the cabbed barista box, and deliver hot fuel anywhere people stack up to watch the chaos. If you want a rig tuned to a mission like this, start here: Custom Builds.

Chassis & suspension — keep it planted, keep it predictable

We widened and strengthened the footprint with S3 Forward A-Arms (+2" Forward High Clearance Kit), Rear Upper Adjustable A-Arms, Rear HD Lower A-Arms, Billet Tie Rods, and HD Springs. That combo stabilizes the higher CG from the enclosed bed setup and keeps steering honest when you’re loaded with water, beans, and gear. No drama rolling into ledges or dropping into ruts — just controlled travel and usable clearance.

Rolling stock that actually works in the desert

KMC KS139 Technic 15" wheels with 35" Maxxis Carnivore tires are the move here — sidewall support for slow work, enough carcass to take a square hit, and tread that clears when you’re in chopped silt or slick rock. Braking stays predictable; steering stays precise. You can crawl with a full load without boiling the driver.

Lights, audio, and eyes where you need them

A Baja Designs front bar handles pre-dawn runs, a reverse camera keeps tight maneuvers stress-free, and the cab gets the party started with a roof stereo. Rear stereo/electrical by Off-Road Sound Systems keeps it serviceable when something needs attention mid-day.

The barista box — built like a bed cage, organized like a race cart

The custom S3 bed enclosure locks down the coffee kit and tools, routes power tidy, and gives you quick-access panels so you’re not tearing the rig apart for a simple fix. Theme matters too — latte-tone arms and a matching bumper sell the story without shouting. Want an enclosure spec’d to your payload and terrain? Contact the shop.

Portals at KOH? Yes — because gearing and clearance are free speed

You add weight and height with an enclosed box? You fix it with corrected gearing and more ground clearance. Portal kits let the Defender walk ledges without clutch-cooking and claw back composure when the “driveway” turns vertical. That’s not a flex — that’s just smart.

Bottom line

The Coffee Cruiser isn’t a gimmick — it’s a 2025 Can-Am Defender built the S3 Power Sports way: function-first, desert-proof, and unapologetically fun. With S3 suspension, portal axles, 35" Maxxis Carnivores on KMCs, and a race-cart-smart barista box, it wheels clean, hauls gear, and keeps the crew caffeinated from pit row to the back of beyond. It’s proof of how we approach customer builds — start with the mission, tune the geometry, then make it look like it belongs at KOH.
